In May, after waiting for months, the day had finally come for the Jasper Jr./Sr. High School Grade 10 French class to welcome their Quebec exchange students.
After having such an amazing experience in Quebec back in February, the students from Jasper wanted to make sure that their exchange partners had an awesome and memorable time – Jasper style. Throughout the week the students went hiking through the Valley of the Five and the Maligne Canyon, saw beautiful views from the top of the Jasper Tramway, hung out at the Palisades and took part in many other activities available in and around Jasper.
Hosting the Quebec students gave the Jasper students the opportunity to experience how beautiful their town really is. It’s easy to just look at a mountain and think nothing of it because you see it every day, but once you see it through the eyes of someone who is seeing it for the first time, you begin to appreciate your own town even more.
The students from Quebec and Jasper had a blast biking, hiking, rafting, dancing and bonding, but after a week of amazing experiences it was time to say “au revoir”.
The exchange gave these Grade 10 students many special gifts, amazing experiences such as travelling in Quebec and Jasper, lifelong friends and memories that will never be forgotten. Many of the Jasper students plan to keep in touch and visit often. A big thanks to Ms. Morden, Mr. Fraser and all of the parents for making this awesome week possible. |
