As part of a school trip with the organization Sevec, which facilitates youth trips all over Canada, a group of 24 students set off on a journey of a lifetime in February.
The Grade 10 French students from Jasper Jr./Sr. High School spent time in St. Pamphile, Que., with Sevec, whose mission is to create and promote educational opportunities for youth within Canada. The organization helps to bring youth together and create lifelong friends.
Now, the Jasper students are gearing up to welcome their fellow friends and students from Quebec, who will spend a week here from May 13 to 19.
Ashley Morden, teacher and facilitator of the exchange, said the visiting students will get the full Jasper experience, with visits to many of the main attractions like the Palisades Stewardship Education Centre, a rafting adventure and even a trip up the tramway.
“The trip will give the students a good feel for Jasper and its culture,” said Morden. “We hope to get the community excited about the exchange because this is a nice opportunity for us to showcase Jasper. It’s very exciting.”
