In line with a tradition that started back in the 1970’s, Friday night the Jasper Rotary Club will host Juan Heluva Nite, a Mexican themed beach party, to help raise funds for Polio Plus.
The event’s main feature is a backwards draw whereby all attendees’ names are drawn throughout the night with the final name winning a grand prize worth $3,000 that can be spent on a trip to anywhere in the world.
The event will give Jasperites a chance to step into a summer-themed beach party for the night with a Mexican buffet, margarita and tequila specials as well as salsa dancing to keep the night moving.
With already 150 tickets sold, Rich Potter, spokesperson for Jasper Rotary, believes the night will be a huge success with lots of smaller prizes to be given away throughout the night.
“We get some nice stuff donated, vouchers for restaurants, nights at hotels, et cetera,” he said.
The funds raised from the event will go towards Rotary International’s charity Polio Plus which aims to see the eradication of polio across the world by 2012, which is also the number one target for the World Health Organization. |
