After 30 years on the road and rails, Fred Eaglesmith’s path is weaving through Jasper once again on July 25.
Eaglesmith has been a frequent performer in Jasper, and is famous for playing large outdoor venues as well as small backyard shows. The Jasper show will be at The Downstream, and is one of 45 dates on his cross-country tour for his latest album ‘Cha-cha-cha.’ He’s played the venue and many others before in Jasper, according to Downstream spokesperson Rob Ferguson.
He launched the tour with an appearance on David Letterman’s Late Show, and has a large following in the United States. His work is now being covered by notables such as Toby Keith, Cowboy Junkies, James King and Ralph Stanely II. He’s also written songs for Alan Jackson and Miranda Lambert of late.
His fans cross many barriers, as he draws from folk, bluegrass, country, rock, gospel and spoken word, earning him Juno awards, spots on the U.S. Top 10 list (with his 2008 release Tinderbox) and a nomination for the Canadian Polaris prize. He is the only Canadian to write a number one bluegrass hit on the U.S. Charts
Advance tickets are available at The Downstream. Doors open at 9:30 p.m. |
