The Jasper Legion will host Hey Romeo, a dynamic trio that produces hook-filled songs with lyrical depth and a mix of traditional and contemporary country, on Wednesday, June 9.

The Edmonton based group is touring to promote their latest album, That’s What I Am, which is set to hit stores June 1.

With a top 20 hit single on iTunes for their song Searchin’ For You already available, the group is made up of Stacie Roper, a Sherwood Park native who spent her time slinging beers at bars and singing with bands that appeared on weekends before finally joining Darren Gusnowsky and Rob Shapiro to form the group Hey Romeo (formerly known as Udder Madness) in 2002

Opening for the likes of Corb Lund, Sugarland, The Trews and Blue Rodeo and at major events such as The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, The Big Valley Jamboree and The Canadian Brier Curling Championships, the band has performed more than 700 shows throughout Canada.

Gusnowsky and Shapiro were once the backing back for Canadian country singer Gord Bamford until one day Roper asked to come onstage with them to sing, and that’s when the two knew they have found their voice for their new group.

As Nashville producer and songwriter Brian Allen puts it. “In a world of generic country copycats, Hey Romeo stands out with a refreshing crispness. They bring a creative mix of traditional and contemporary, topped by the addictive ring of Stacie’s buoyant vocals. I would love to work with these guys!”

Hey Romeo will play the Jasper Legion on June 9. Doors open at 8pm, tickets are $5.
